Default Some iPhone Apps

While I've been planning our trip to Europe in May, I've come across several iPhone apps that I thought might be quite useful on the trip. I'll post them here and maybe there are some that others have found useful that could be posted here as well.

So here's a few that I found that don't need internet access to use and they are free.

Free London - free attractions, museums, events etc
Free Paris - same as above
Free Rome - one more as above
WN Italian - includes audio so you can get pronunciations correct
WN Spanish - as above
WN - French as above
Louvre - interactive guide to Louvre Museum in Paris
Come to Paris - a city guide
MetrO - routes for riding the MetrO in quite a few different cities. Requires an internet connection for some features but looks like you can use the basics without an internet connection.
TubeMap - Similar features to MetrO but for the underground in London
Lonely Planet - doesn't include any guidebooks for Europe but you can purchase them through the app
HostelWorld - you can research and book your hostels with this one. The one downside I found is that you can't access the bookings you make through a web browser.

Are there some other must have apps to use while in Europe?

Thanks! The train ones look useful.

Has anyone actually paid for those $90 odd Europe map apps?

Love the MetrO app. One of the most useful ones for backpackers, a definite must have, if you are using the iPhone or iPod Touch.

Managed to get free versions (brother cracked my touch before I left) of some of the lonely planet guides as well as translating apps which spoke to you - never ended up using them on the trip, preferred to rely on our paper travel guide. Also the guides tended to be not that well presented - lots of scrolling and jumping around unlike looking at one page in the book. It's a personal choice in the end. The Metro app though does sound good - and would have been very useful looking back on my trip :P

Hi I'm new here, I love this forum. It's answered so many random questions and gave me more of an idea on what to bring for my future trip!

Anyhow, I wanted to let you guys know, due to the Iceland volcano, 12 of the Europe Lonely Planet guides are free right now in the iTunes store until April 23rd! It's best to download them while connected to wifi cause they are kinda large.

I posted links on my blog as to which ones and wrote a little review

oh wow! thank you! I just looked at these in the app store and was contemplating buying one but wasn't sure if it would be worth it.

For a limited time, Lonely Planet is giving away some of their guides to European cities. I think there is about 30 that are free right now. I think they're just trying to help out people stuck in Europe because of the volcano.

I haven't tried it yet, but has anyone tried the oMaps app?

Seems like it would be useful since you can download them when you have a wifi connection, then use GPS to locate yourself on it later.

I travelled to Sydney the other day and the Qantas magazine had a list of great travel apps. I'll try to scan it and upload here.
