Toiletries

Here's what I brought:

  • all-in-one shampoo/conditioner (I brought 8 oz/230 g with me and had to buy more after about 9/10 wks)
  • liquid body soap and scrubber (I brought 8 oz/230 g with me and had to buy more after about 10/11 wks)
  • liquid face soap and Buff Puff (brought 4 oz/115 g with me and had to buy more at 10/11 wks)
  • toothpaste and toothbrush (my 4 oz/115 g tube lasted the whole 3 months)
  • small dental floss (12 yd/3m)
  • fold-a-cup
  • small, fold-flat lint brush
  • safety razor and replacement blades
  • rubbing alcohol pads
  • "Wash'n Dri" moist disposable towlettes (anti-bacterial)
  • deodorant (1.7 oz/48 g "Sure" was more than enough to for my 3 month trip)
  • Oil of Olay Daily UV Protectant Beauty Fluid (moisturizing sunscreen)
  • liquid foundation (Max Factor Lasting Performance 1.2 fl oz/35 ml
  • face powder
  • lipstick-sized face powder applicator (comes with Clinique's loose face powder)
  • mascara
  • Chap-Stick/lip balm with sun screen
  • foldable brush/comb combo
  • hair gel (4 oz) and hair spray (1 oz)
  • hair clips and "scrunchies"
  • cotton swabs (Q-Tips)
  • contact lens solution (bring 4 oz size-- expect to replace it for each additional month you travel)
  • contact case, extra contacts, and eye-glasses and case
  • small mirror
  • tweezers
  • fingernail clippers
  • small vial of perfume (sample .14 FL. OZ. of "Happy" spray)
  • feminine hygiene products (bring enough for a few days, these are readily available in all European countries)
  • condoms (just in case)

I found it easy to limit the number of clothes I brought, but it was very hard for me to give up any of the toiletries I listed.  Call it vanity, but I just can't leave the make-up and skin care products at home!  If you can, especially if you're a guy, your toiletries should take up very little space in your pack.

I bought 8 oz, 4 oz, and 1 oz plastic containers at  Wal-Mart for about 99¢ each.

I bought my toiletry bag at K-mart for $9.99.
